Observation details
long-distance views but very obvious white-winged gull that appeared to be an Iceland (would like closer view); entire bird was very pale white and stood out among all other gulls; body size was about the same as nearby Herring Gulls (mostly immatures), and body shape appeared more elongate/longer-winged vs. plump/chunky short-winged; difficult to see bill detail due to distance but was not conspicuous (i.e., noticeably large). Bird was on island behind Masonboro (toward the west/mainland) where waterbirds often concentrate. Watched for 15-20 minutes as it preened and walked among the gull flock, but heat shimmer and distance did not allow for a photo to confirm ID.
