NOTES: Songs of same bird as cuts #98RDAT03-04 & 05 after additional playback. Bird was now seen relatively well and described on tape - a male with a fully black cap. At this point, bird was in dense growth in canopy, 10-12 m up and initially 12-14 m away but later 20 m away. Playback response was minimal, same song, but possibly a weak approach. Rather different than songs on "Songs of the Antbirds" CD set, but with initial, stuttering notes of songs depicted in some spectrograms of Whitney et al. (2000. 117:869-891). Mike attenuators on and using Benchmark MicMan Jr. preamp with Sennheiser ME-64 microphone in 24" Roche parabola. Copied with HPF@180 Hz. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Forest, Evergreen Forest.
