Observation details
While observing the first redpoll, I heard sparrow-like "seep" calls, then spotted an ATSP perched upstream a short distance in a willow ca 10 m N of the stream. Shortly after, I observed it interact with a second passerine and heard brief "chuweet" calls - not sure if the second bird was an ATSP or a redpoll. 1 ATSP then apparently flew downstream and landed in a shrub ca 40 m away, obscured by branches. I did not get a good look at it there but it made sharp "tip" calls that sounded like ATSP, then apparently stopped calling and disappeared from sight. On the return at ca 1205 I heard high, sharp, descending "tseep" calls near the photo point along the stream from at least 2 birds. I saw at least one of them flitting, but did not get a good enough look to confirm it visually. However, calls certainly resembled ATSP and other species with similar-sounding calls (eg. SAVS) would be very unlikely at this time, so I ID'd them as ATSP.
