Perched near the diversion.
Observation details
Suspect the same HALH as previous surveys this winter, but not sure. Seen several times, described below. At the beginning of the survey, seen perched on the dead alder stub just N of the diversion dam. Gone from the perch sometime between 0840 and 0846. At 1110, I saw a Buteo, dark on its back and whitish underneath (apparently without large dark carpal patches) and with a dark trailing edge to the wing ventrally, fly in from the north and land on the ground a short distance S of the stream near the diversion. Suspected HALH again, but not sure. It was gone by the time I got closer. At 1226, I again saw a RTHA, this time on a fencepost on the hill E of Head Ln.
