Observation details
We (me and my parents) came back from a family visit, almost home, when we passed a field that was recently ploughed, with ca. 500 gulls foraging, lesser black-backed and herring gulls. Suddenly I notice a really pale and light bird, close to the road. Immediately, I thought 'Iceland gull!', but I didn't had my camera with me, and not even my binoculars. But as I said, we were almost home. So as fast as we could, we drove home to pick up my camera and binoculars. But when we came back, the whole group of gulls had flown away to the middle of the (pretty large) field. But after a few minutes scanning, I found that magical bird - a 3rd calendar year ICELAND GULL back, and I was able to make some recognisable photo's. And when we returned home, my first common swift of the year flew by. A day to never forget! EDIT: accepted by the BRBC (Belgian Rare Birds Committee.
