Observation details
Seen from the beach circling overhead before flying east. At first glance at it was approaching the shape and dihedral made me think Turkey Vulture, but I quickly realized that it was actually an eagle. I got my binoculars on it and confirmed the diagnostic white tail band of a Golden Eagle; the bird was otherwise dark, lacking white splotching except for small white patches at the base of the flight feathers. Photos turned out blurry and don't show anything except a large raptor with a slight dihedral.
