geese believed to be hutchinsii near center of photo
Observation details
small geese with short bills and rounded heads, standing on exposed mudflat with Canada geese nearly twice their size next to them; photos are poor and probably inconclusive, however they do document that at least one of the geese, in addition to smaller size and head shape, also appeared to have a much darker breast than any of the larger Canadas; note during the period of observation there was very little vocalization by the geese, perhaps due to proximity of the eagle, thus no "cackling" heard
