Observation details
Size of Blyth's Reed Warbler. It had a call that was similar to it, and it came out in the open in good light when I took a photo. I don't recall which of the call notes I got. At Xeno-Canto I do note calls that are common to Paddyfield and Blyth's Reed and Booted - I don't know the validity of the recordings. The first thing that put me off was the bill, which was not thin and long like Blyth's. The overall appearance and white supercilium extending behind the eyes were other differences that struck me while I was editing the photo. On referring to Grimmet, dark tip to bill and yellowish/pinkish brown legs differentiate Paddyfield Warbler from Blyth's Reed Warbler. I see the former in the photo. With the lighting I don't want to use the leg colours for id. The habitat appears wrong for Paddyfield Warbler. Used help of Tamilbirds Yahoo group to id this as Booted.
