Observation details
1st year light juvenile (lightly marked). Believe this bird was previously reported by David Simpson. Actually saw this bird just to the northeast of I-95 about 50 yards back from buffer preserve road on a road to horse riding and camping. Was perched in dense area of live oak but flew across the road to a different perch. Bird was small - red-shouldered hawk size or smaller. When it flew away a few minutes later it was very swift and flight seemed almost falcon-like (at least in the heavy wind) and had pointed wings. Flew over canal and to the trees on the south side of the canal. Flight style seemed different than other hawks. Red-tailed hawk was in the immediate vicinity.
