Media notes
Where two cardinals are very close together, a circle may not be centered on the second bird - this was simply to help me distinguish each bird. In any instance where I wasn’t 100% sur it was a cardinal - I refered to additional photos for different angles of the same bird. I have higher quality photos than these, but they were to large to upload. :-)
Observation details
We have regularly seen 20+ cardinals all at once throughout the winter. I agree that this was an exceptional number to view all at once, so I did my best to document it with photos. My original quick count was 37, but I went back to the photos I took in quick succession to get a firmer idea of how many were here at this particular time. I have additional higher quality photos, if needed. The cardinals thrive at the edge of our yard where it meets the wetland. There is a slope down to the wetland where they have protection from the wind/weather.
