NOTES: Recorded by: William V. Ward, Jean P. Ward, David D. Ward. Weather: WIND; THIS WILD PARROT WAS FOUND JUST BELOW TIMBERLINE AT THE UPPER END OF A DIRT ROAD THAT ASCENDS FROM LAKE ROTOITI TO A SKI AREA PART WAY UP MT. ROBERT. THIS BIRD FLEW DOWN, POSSIBLY FROM AREAS ABOVE, WHEN IT NOTICED THE ARRIVAL OF OUR CAR. AT FIRST IT HOPPED AROUND ON THE GROUND, NOT RESPONDING TO OUR WHISTLES. THEN IT FLEW INTO A PINE TREE WHERE ITSTARTED VOCALIZATIONS, A BIT CAT-LKE AT FIRST. POSSIBLY A GREETING ORA QUERY FOR FOOD. 1.5HZ HIGH PASS FILTER. Sex: 1 UNKNOWN.
