Observation details
I found this bird just west of the town of Stanley while I was walking along the shore. It was on a grassy knoll near the large pier where cruise ships tie up. It was active and stayed in the general area for the time I was watching it (about 10 minutes) then flew northwest a short distance and resumed feeding on a the grassy field east of the access road to the open.. I sent it to Santiago Imberti who helped to confirm the ID. This is reportedly the 2nd documented record for the Falklands. The yellow on flanks, crisp white over black streaked back and unstreaked breast ruled out female or immature White-bridled Finch which is the expected species here.
