NOTES: A.O. AUROPALLIATA. THIS BAND OF PARROTS SETTLED IN A NEARBY TREE WHILE I WAS RECORDING A DIFFERENT SPECIES. THEY WERE SILENT A LONG TIME. THEN ONE BIRD (THE LEADER?) BEGAN TO VOCALIZE. HE FLEW TO A SECOND TREEAND HIS MOVEMENT SEEMED TO STIMULATE THE OTHER PARROTS TO VOCALIZE. THEN HE LED THE BAND ACROSS THE RIVER TO A MORE DISTANT TREE. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES THE BAND FLEW OVER MY HEAD, VOCALIZING STEADILY, AND CONTINUED UNTIL OUT OF SIGHT AND SOUND. REMNANT OF FLOOD-PLAIN FOREST. Sex: 5 UNKNOWN LNS: Subject changed from Amazona ochrocephala to A. auropalliata to reflect current taxonomy. -Matt Medler, 3 Nov 2010. Habitat: Forest, Lake.
