Cassin's Finch
Observation details
There may have two, both near the dead-end. I saw one in an open-branch tree on the right just before I reached the dead-end turn-around area. It had a peaked crown, cinnamon ear patch, bill tapering evenly to point (vs House Finch curved culmen), heavy streaking on the front of the bird, and notched tail. (Camera/photographer foul-up in progress at this point.) A little later, I saw the photographed bird two trees SW of the gate that is on the left side of the dead-end turn-around area. Although this photographed bird doesn't have much of a peaked crown, it appears to have the other markers needed for a Cassin's.
