Observation details
Vancouver Lowlands, N end Lower River Road; /p on Round Pond, followed a GREG The Snowy Egret was my first in Washington State. It was far smaller than the Great Egret that it followed around. The two seemed to get along okay. Smaller than Great Egret, with a dark and slightly decurved bill, bright yellow lores. The two egrets fished in the same little area of the pond that I think is called Round Pond. I reached this by walking east from the gate that closes off Lower River Road; there is a pedestrian gate that gives access to a dike that heads east at first, then gently curves left, giving views of the pond over a blackberry thicket. I did not stay long, as there were lots of hunters shooting in the area.
