Media notes
These photos taken by Yuri Raia, have been passed-around to some pelagic experts. Based on this quote of the correspondence from Wayne Peterson of Massachusetts Audubon "I like Long-tailed Jaeger...I say this on shape, the pale head on one of the shots, the suggestion of only a single (or possibly two) outer primary shafts on the dorsal shot, the overall “cold” coloration of the bird, and the distinct, dark trailing edge to the secondary feathers on one of the images.." Additionally, others have doubted that it is a parasitic, and for my part, when I saw the birds in flight, never did I see the "barrel-chested" stockiness of a pomerine jaeger. Therefore, the clues seem to lead to long-tailed jaeger.
