Observation details
Photographed a bird similar to a Blyth's reed Warbler but the call was scratchy rattling which was different from a BRW. It was continuously moving high on the tree branches and fanning its tail. Bill was larger than the BRW. As per Lars Svensson on 8th May 2023, I have finally had time to look at the many photographs of presumed Large-billed Reed Warbler. I'm out of the option that all these (including your Blyth's) are Large-billed Warblers, but I can only be completely convinced that the one photographed by Peter Kaestner is one such. For the other I have to say 'most probably ' this species. Lars also replied "I go for length of bill, broad bill base and almost straight sides of the bill in dorsal or ventral view, long and narrow and less strongly curved claws, and a bit pointed and less broad tail-feathers. But differences to long-billed Blyth’s RW still small. So caution needed. On Kaestner’s bird claw shape was evident, and length and shape of bill striking."
