Observation details
Putative Chandeleur Gull. Long yellow-gray legs. Small, square p10 mirror. Outermost primary growing. Flat head with almond-shaped eye. Strong, thick bill with notable bulbous tip. Adult individual that has made southern Lake Michigan its winter home for several years (perhaps as early as 2006). Mostly residing at the harbor in Michigan City, Indiana, this presumed hybrid has been sighted as far north as Berrien County, Michigan, and inland, as far as Will County, Illinois.
