Observation details
2 individuals could not be taken to subspecies definitively. The light-morph bird is likely an individual from the southern great plains. The RTHAs there tend to have little to no markings on their tails and little to no markings on their abdomens. Otherwise it could be fuertesi or a intergrade between kriderii and borealis. The dark-morph bird shows calurus like features but extensive whitish spotting and very thick subterminal band could be field marks for the not-yet described dark-morph abieticola subspecies. Hopefully future research will hash these details out and this birds subspecies status can be re-examined.
