Observation details
exact count; about 75 in a single roost across the Slough from my location, with a few other gulls mixed in, but a roost that was mostly Mew Gull. The few others were scattered on the slough not far away in small flocks on the water. Either this was a 'hide-tide roost' that I've never seen before or there is a new influx of (mostly) adult Mew Gulls. During my 40 minutes here almost all these gulls were sleeping -- as if very tired -- and awoke only when a kayak or vulture flew too close. I wonder if this might support the "new arrivals worn out" theory? [Kent Van Vuren told me he had high numbers here yesterday]
