Observation details

With BBPL and Dunlin. Same field where one hung out with BBPL last winter. Clearly smaller than BBPL. Basic adult plumage. Darker brown than BBPL, with distinct dark auricular patch and light tannish supercilium that curves down behind auricular patch. Darker back and wings than BBPL, with brownish-golden spots on coverts and back. Smudgy brown markings on breast. Long wingtips past tail, but too far away to see exactly how far past tertials. When it flew, underwing was uniform dark grayish-brown, very different than black axillaries and lighter rest of underwing of BBPL. Digiscoped photos.
