Observation details
Photos of this *Mega*, first record for New York State! Found by Tom Simmons in his backyard, who was reluctant to share the bird’s location and asked that the bird not be disclosed because of his neighborhood. Seen by a few local birders. Small, pale dove coming to feeder. Lacks any spots on wings. Red eye, pink legs and feet, black bill. Body and head feathers showed scaly appearance due to darker tips to each feather. Longish square tipped tail. When the dove flew to nearby pines, reddish outer wings were prominent. The red was not seen when the bird had folded wings.
