Observation details
Continuing; refound by Dessi Sieburth and Judi Hwa in Tipu tree west of Restroom 8. Apparently same bird that we found in the same tree on December 9, but which had not been seen since Dec 12, despite many people (including us on the CBC) looking for it. Sapsucker with scattered golden brown in the head and nape, indicating immature (molt timing eliminates Red-naped Sapsucker). Molting into adult male plumage, with red throat surrounded by black. No red on nape. Photos in dying light.
