Observation details
Bird was in reedy habitat in a swale that had water in it. There were trees nearby to which it flew. The bird was rather shy and moved a little ways away as I tried to move closer. My first impression was that it was a Blackbird with a short tail and it was not a Redwing. I thought it was perhaps a Rusty but it did not have as much rusty as I remember from previous sightings of winter Rustys. One of the photos shows shows a brownish upper back which a Brewer's doesn't have. As I remember the feather edging in the tertials looked rustier than they show in the photo. The bird had a prominent eyebrow stripe above the eye. One of the photos shows a light eye.
