Observation details
Pelican was back on the lake when we returned at 4:00 pm. When we first visited @11 am, the Pelican was flying in broad circles high around Playland park; but then it returned to the lake. At noon, the Pelican flew up and out in a southwesterly direction, it appeared to disappear, and we looked for the bird down the Rye coast but did not find it; and we did not see the Pelican when we came back to look at the lake around 1 pm. (So we thought it was gone.) At @4 pm, we came back and the Pelican was back on the lake. It was still there when we left after sunset.
