Fly-over at Carmel Middle School while leading 6th grade Earth Science class.
Observation details
The bird flew in from the north and passed over the MEarth habitat continuing in a southwest direction. I lost sight of the bird over the Rio Road area. Views of the bird were with the sun at my back against clear blue skies. On viewing the bird it immediately stood out as a deep dark brown and white bird with no reddish tones typically seen with dark morph western RTHA. Initial views of the bird were of it flying at our location which revealed white streaking on the upper chest ( partially visible in photo), heavily mottled underwings, and no rufous tones in the under tail, and faint barring of the tail. Unfortunately my photos of the bird area all going away shots and no photos captured primary spread.
