Observation details
First heard singing at 19:40 about 200 yards south of site 8. Sang nearly continuously until 20:16 moving generally southeast up small wash. Believe he was marking territory and/or foraging. We did not get close enough to disturb the bird. Silence for a long ten minutes until it gave a short series of songs at 20:26. More silence followed by a blast of songs close. After a minute or so silence we heard wing clapping (wish I had my recorder on). Another couple of minutes of silence followed by another close burst of songs and we were able to detect eye shine . Jan & John were able to see plumage features (buffy collar) through vegetation while I held the light. We shifted position to get an unobscured view.
