Observation details
*Rare. Apparently the first eBird record for Campeche, despite plenty of other reports from around the peninsula. Bulky Calidris, larger than adjacent peeps, smaller than adjacent dowitchers, with fairly long distinctly downcurved bill. Plumage medium gray above, with similarly colored wash across chest, extending into some spotting down the flanks. Rump had black stripe down the center with white to the side. Legs were shorter and darker than on Stilt Sandpiper, and the bird foraged in the exposed mud with the peeps, not in the water with the dowitchers. Poor photos in flight, when fairly bold white wingstripe was apparent.
