NOTES: short natural (bird started to move away), and long response to playback (very loud response near end), one level change- saw dull brown small Otus with slight supercilium, seemed like a very dull bird. Koenig thought it could be O. marshalli, but the bird was seen very well. There is some confusion to this species. Bamboo forest on top of Serrania Beu, ranging between 1200- 1350m, Upper Tropical forest and bamboo forest, neither one very distinct, areas with bamboo, but never isolated, forest without closed canpoy, bamboo 5-10 m high, mixed with early succesional plants, very hilly, but not cliffs. -area with no human impact, 2 day hike in, cutting trails. Response to playback: Approach. Habitat: Forest, Montane Grassland, Scrub.
