Observation details
Flock of 15-20 crossbills actively foraging in short-needles pines north of the fountain pond. They interacted and quarreled quite a bit as they munched on pine seeds and flew back and forth between the pines. I saw them make one longer flight across the baseball field as well, and when they flew the longer distance they stuck to a tight formation. I did not detect any variation in call notes, and I believe this flock was all Type 2s.
