Media notes
I think this is a 1st summer bird since it has some white patches on the upper parts, had some tail bands, and I think had some very faint barring on the undersides.
Observation details
A surprise for sure. Sitting in a dead tree preening. It was dive bombed by Amer. Robins and scolded by House FInches & Goldfinches until it had enough of the robin hits and probably was done preening and took off. I think this is a 1st summer bird since it has some white patches on the upper parts, had some tail bands, and I think had some very faint barring on the undersides. Lighting was very bad to see detail. This was on private property in a residential area. I spoke to the owner who indicated she did not want birders staking out her home for personal reasons. The bird likely won't be there again anyway..
