Observation details
A compact loon with small feet, narrow wings, slim fuselage, slender neck and dainty head flew past, high above. It eyed the lake but continued on its way. I found the subject very difficult to ID for certain, as it was very high above and my only view was its underside. I managed some photos, blew them up, shared them online and the consensus is this is a RTLO. Upon further study of my photos, I agree. In ML76575351 the RTLO GISS comes though in the photo. Addendum: 4-December-2017. After returning to my photos with fresh eyes/perspective, I'm not certain this is a RTLO. This build, GISS seems off and there appears to be a spur of dark jutting in along the neck line. I've seen a nice haul of RTLO in flight this fall and this bird is "off." Perhaps a dainty COLO is my thinking. If others are reading this, I'm happy to receive comments at: eontbird@gmail.com
