Observation details
Observed near the lodge calling conspicuously from one of the wooden posts near the feeding station. Later on I observed the bird foraging in the brush beneath there. This was a typical brown towhee with a conical bill and rufous vent, as well as a vague eyering. The back was not streaked, eliminating Rufous-crowned Sparrow (along with multiple other features) and the bird lacked black facial markings of an Abert's.
