Observation details
This widely-seen wintering vagrant was seen by many throughout the winter. It was first reported by Casey (the homeowner) about 8-9 days before this date and again two days before this. We followed up with the report and easily found the bird. It was hit-or-miss for a few weeks, then became very regular from late November through the winter. Comments: First seen 8:30am on block to west of the main location; foraged in leafed maple for about a minute (pumped tail constantly); flew to nearby bare tree and called several times; flew across street and visited suet feeder; remained in yard for about 10 minutes foraging in small shrubs and calling often; visited suet feeder once more and moved northward along block, still calling.
