Observation details
Continuing first year bird, large diving cormorant with streaked brown on throat, white chest and lower belly seen when on land; dark back, short tail, yellow at base of bill surrounded by white. We first saw it in the middle of the river just under the Gardiner-Randolph bridge. We watched it drifting downstream when it hopped out on bank on the Randolph side of the river to dry its wings; we drove to that side of the river and were able to get better photos there
