Much "canopy singing" which had been stimulated by playback. Two males were involved per my field notebook, not three as annotated. Field annotations included and a notation re: Mastertape #75B as the first annotation in the field refers to that tape edited in 1995 (now 1966) to LNS #72271. Three birds present, two singing, one called. The male and female still were at the nest. CAT. NO. 74611, SECOND DATA PAGE: Time: 1030. Date: 7 Nov. 1974. Identified by sight and sound. Recordist's Tape #76A. No. of Animals/Sex: adult(s), male(s), female(s). Range Status: Normal, ENDANGERED. Breeding Status: Territorial, breeding. Sound Category: Song, call. Stimulus for Sound: Playback own song. Response to Playback: Approach. Field Recorder: Nagra IIIB. Cut Length: 1220.) Playback does bring the animals closer--but the main reaction apeared to be later with much "canopy singing" as the males re-established territorial-"boundaries." There were several "physical encounters" males attacking each other--annotated--We boosted the level on the "2nd call" in the LNS copy, this call was not heard very often. A "tsek-tsek-tsek" (chatter [illegible word] call) annotation included. "1200 hrs" is a nest visit. Field annotations included--the last annotation " - - - - - - "Bird from nest "i.e. the territorial male) drove them smartly off.".
