Tropical Kingbird
Observation details
We arrived at the Dune Pond to find a pair of what we "thought" were two Tropical Kingbirds. Fortunately, Mark Holmgren was visible in the distance & I was able to talk to him by phone. He suggested that one of the "Tropicals" was a Western Kingbird. Alas, I only have photos of the one Tropical, because shortly after the two were flying together, squabbling and carrying on, the presumed "Western Kingbird" left the area, at least temporarily. And these photos are only of the TK. We noticed the Tropical and the other kingbird together, but I never looked for nor figured out the white outer tail feathers. Thanks to Mark for enlightening us, and here's to late Western Kingbirds, that don't get noticed when you're not expecting them!
