Observation details
Likely the same bird first reported on February 4 by Keith McCullough, Aaron Given and Matthew Arnold. We had scope views of the Red-necked Grebe in good light from distances of about 100-150 yards and were able to observe it in the company of several Pied-billed Grebes, which offered a nice comparison. The Red-necked Grebe was slightly larger and taller, and it had a dark cap, white face (with a slight crescent on the side), dusky throat and yellowish bill.
