NOTES: (PARTS A & B: Time: 0600-1200. Bkground Sounds: Cervus timorensis calls, domestic fowls. No. of Animals/Sex: Adult(s), male(s), female(s). Social Contact: Group. Special Song Type: Group contact/interaction.) HPF 200. this follows immediately on 74537 the same individual singing and the group interacting. Jay-like or cat-call plus "ch_ _ _ song" and contact, flight, "flight intentioin" all are heard--an interaction with bill slaps within the group. Foraging in the introduced exotic Eugenia jambos and "taking nectar from a Eugenia (jambos) flower." Annotation. The morning was damp and they were feeding in the flowers, taking insects and nectar. i was watching with binoculars as it drank! I watched individual(s) "drinkn" nectar three times between 0530-0630 while different individuals within the group. The aerial display also involved increased wingbeat to fast "butterfly" flight--raised tail and raised head which was thrown up and forward. Zosterops b. mauritianus groups move through taking nectar also. The breeding season had started. I found nests. Within this foraging group on the morning of 16 Oct there were individuals assume females, that fluttered wings and invited or solicited feeding (or copulation). The tail was fanned. The bill lowered and held horizontal with wings fluttering. (Response to) playback also elicited slow tail fanning and "searching." In highly aggressive interactions wings were flipped fast in lesser aggressive situation the "soliciting" posture was takekn. A "courtship display" involved much wing fluttering/flicking--movement onwards followed by second individual presumed mate--then a long sequence of "cat call"--continued on Part B then playback used!!
