Observation details
Continuing bird first found by Holly Cox about 3 days earlier. Well-viewed by all in our group, and well heard by me and most of the folks in the group too. Kitty T. and I had not seen bird and it was no where in sight when Kitty played the SB Ani two syllable vocals. Bird immediately answered with exact same call from a distance. She played again and it flew from North straight toward us landing in tree on opposite side of canal near entrance to park. Kitty played again and bird flew across canal and landed in Pine tree right over our head. Rest of group arrived and then bird flew north of iron fence north of road and was well visible to all in group, and also vocalizing often with same SB Ani vocal. Large heavy bill with high curve on bill. Photos taken and no sign of grooves on bill through binocs or on photos. But exact call was most compelling evidence for our group. Bird also had noticeable brown tinge in most light which is also said to be a characteristic of SB Ani.
