Media notes

Bird calling from small Engelmann spruce grove in meadow. While I did not observe the bird giving this call shortly after it ended a bird flew into view and was observed.. Definitely not your traditional Boreal Owl call.

Observation details

Bird perched about 7m away and 3 m up on a dead branch giving good looks for an extended period. Had smallish yellow eyes set forward in the face and quite close together. Facial disc also distinctive, it was lighter with darker feathers ringing it.
