Media notes
Flock of 25 Brant as first seen in front of a huge flock of Greater Scaup.
Observation details
Smaller than Canada Geese, no white cheek patch, very compact head and bill, very dark head, neck and upper breast, some showing broken white ring on neck. First sighted by Sigi on the edge of the large flock of Scaup north of the park. After several minutes, they flew south to directly west of the park and landed again a short distance south-west of the park, where better pictures were obtained at closer range. After about another 10 minutes they flew south again, out of sight beyond the south end of Cook’s Bay - next stop likely Lake Ontario. We couldn’t believe our eyes, but no question we were seeing Brant!
