Observation details
Both landed in trees near me. The birds were slim like first year birds. The bill was short. There were black marks on the white edges of the tail feathers and both had red caps. 1 male was flying from tree to tree along the path. The second male had a serious excavation project going in one of the trees nearer the observation platform. At first I thought he was just drumming but he came up with several insects.
