the plumage of an adult (body of a specimen found dead). This completely intact ad. bird was found in the colony dead after a heavy storm. Most of their chicks were eaten up by herons this year! The gulls finished breeding, so the terns stayed on the island alone, with no defence support from them to finish second breeding. They were a subject to predation, mainly by herons and also heavy summer storm caused death to ads. caring for chicks. IBC scientific name: Sterna hirundo hirundo. Elevation: 88 m.
