Media notes

Short cut with two type 2 flight calls. Edits: trimmed and normalized to -3 dB. Uploaded 2017 Oct. 18.

Observation details

See the description of the Type 1 evening grosbeaks above or general information. Audio spectrograms indicate that most of the birds were type 1 evening grosbeaks but also reveal at least one type 2. The type 2 calls rise and then fall more gradually in frequency. Both look indistinguishable from the figure showing flight call variants in Sewall et al. 2004. Recording on Xeno-Canto: http://www.xeno-canto.org/205681 The first recording documents both types 1 and 2. The second recording shows only type 1. I got several other recordings but these are the ones with the highest signal-to-noise ratios. I got one additional recording of a type 2 that I will upload later.
