NOTES: (Cat. No. 72186A & B. Tape #25B & 26A. Time: 06:30-07:30. No. of Animals/Sex: Several adults, many males, many females. Behav. Context: "nectar defense." Gen. Climate: Cyclic wet-dry. Gen. Habitat: Part III see Reunion section in Studies of Mascarene Island Birds ed. Diamond 1987, Cambridge Univ. Press. Weather: Clear bright morning with wet vegetation. Cut length: ~19 min. - split to pts. A & B.) This sp. "defends" the nectar of the Hypericum lanceolatum. These recordings are of interactions as they feed at one of these trees. There are sections where there are calls also of Z. b. borbonicus. Are they too tried [sic] to feed in the tree.--chloronothus was dominant. There are quiet non-interactive sections where I assumed there was a male and female feeding--and one that had just one individual calling!.
