Observation details
Flew up from downstream into reach 4 and perched near alders upstream of me, vocalizing frequently for a few minutes. Then flew low and vocally over the creek, flushing 2 Mallards, which flew upstream. Heard occasional more distant vocalizations upstream for a short time, then apparently silent. At 1045, an adult male (presumably the same bird) flew overhead going downstream, nonvocal. I watched him fly distant to the ESE, then saw a second BEKI (age/sex unknown) with the same distinctive erratic wingbeats following him. Watched them fly loosely together until almost out-of-sight specks in the direction of town, south of the course of Sevenmile Creek.
