Hybrid Cinnamon Teal x Northern Shoveler swimming with Blue-winged teal behind and Cinnamon Teal in front.
Observation details
Mostly dark bill with orange base nearly NOSH type of shape, much wider and more spatulated than nearby female CITE. The bird appears to be a hatch year bird completing its preformative molt. Size was slightly larger than the CITE and BWTE, which it was often swimming in close proximity to. Eye color quite dark reddish-brown, likely suggesting this bird is a young male. Pale under tail coverts. The bird seemed bonded with CITE on this pond, usually staying in close proximity.
