NOTES: (Breeding Status: Territorial. General Climate: Wet. Cover Density: Medium.) 2375 m. altitude. Includes RRN 892514 and 892515. Upon playback, a "shortened" strophe was given. Unknown sound was recorded and, upon playback, a female Pitta schneideri appeared, sitting low at few m. distance, in full view for a few seconds. However, it did not vocalize at that moment, so I have not seen the bird making this sound. Besides, it is an odd sound for a pitta. Perhaps it was the sound made by a bird unknown for me, notably Batrachostomus poliolophus, and the sighting of the rare pitta might have been a coincidence. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Subsong. Habitat: Cloudforest, Evergreen Forest, Montane Grassland, Pond.
