Observation details
A couple of whitethroats were observed in a prosopis juliflora (vilayati keekar). Even from a distance, I could see that the birds had a pale forehead and crown as well sandy upperparts , features which I have not seen on any whitethroat earlier. The bill is finer and the size/body structure appeared to be on the smaller side. As seen in the images, there is a lack of contrast between the crown and the mantle , a pale forehead and crown, sandy egdes to coverts and secondaries , a fine bill and a 'plain-faced' appearance. Lesser whitethroat is ruled out . All the pointers support Desert whitethroat.
